About the Foundation
The Caribbean Community Foundation (CCF), founded in 2003, is the only charitable organization of its kind serving the Caribbean region. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Florida corporation.*
The CCF’s ultimate goal is simple: to help people in the nations of the Caribbean improve their well-being. The founders care deeply about the Caribbean and Central America and know many others do too--but may not know the best way to help. The CCF offers professional, experienced assistance by:
- working with Caribbean partners to identify immediate and emerging social and economic needs in the region, especially those of underserved populations
- creating an endowment that funds these needs through grants for innovative and self-directed projects
- assisting donors of all kinds-individuals, families, organizations, and their advisors-to design their desired gifts and maximize the financial impact
Founders
CCF founders Cyrilda Brewer, Robert R. Hendry, Thomas E. Norman, David A. Pasquarelli, and Dave Schmeling are personally committed to the Caribbean and Central America, with more than 50 years experience in economic and social development in the region.
Directors

Caribbean Partners
The CCF works with counterpart Caribbean national foundations and appropriate non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to identify challenges and opportunities, today and tomorrow, in the region. We go directly to the source--the Caribbean itself--for knowledge and expertise.
What Is an Endowment? A Community Foundation?
An endowment is a fund of money whose interest and dividend earnings benefit a charitable cause. The fund itself (the principal) is not spent but remains intact to generate income. A community foundation is created for a group or pool of donors--not for one individual or company--who share a goal. A major benefit of a community foundation, besides clear tax advantages, is that any size of contribution receives maximum impact due to low administrative costs. The CCF endowment is a permanent but flexible fund that lets us meet changing needs in the Caribbean region.
